Elementary/Junior High Athletics are looking for individuals for keeping score, time and officiating basketball games this season.  Please contact Coach Zanze at 443-2735 or email zanze@saintbernards.us.

Seniors: The Jostens Rep will be here before school on Tuesday, Oct. 30 to pick up your cap/gown order forms.

ALL: Mass is this Thursday, Nov. 1--MASS DRESS IS REQUIRED.

HS: Elementary/Jh will be trick or treating through your classrooms on Halloween during 1st and 2nd periods.

Halloween reminder: Costumes must be MICA. (remember, this is a Christian school)

Seniors: Senior Portrait day is Tuesday, Oct. 30 in the library. Students will be called when it is their turn for portraits.

HS: Powderpuff has been postponed until Spring Fever Week.


American Indian College Motivation Day

Date: Friday, November 2, 2012
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Location: Van Duzer Theatre, Humboldt State University
Annually SASOP staff coordinates this outreach activity for high school students in grades 9-12. Students are welcomed to the HSU campus by President Rollin Richmond and greeted by American Indian college students. A keynote address by acclaimed speakers and tribal leaders precludes a day of informational workshops, campus tours, lunch, cultural activities, and a college fair. College recruiters from throughout the western states are invited to attend and provide information for the 300 plus students and community members in attendance.

The Book Fair is in the school library and is open:
7:30am-8:10am and 3:00pm-4:00pm (2:00pm-3:00pm on Wednesday, Oct. 24)

ALL:  "Tour of Terror"  Haunted House is back!  The 8th grade will be having a haunted house in the old elementary school on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 26 & 27 from 6:30-11pm.  $8 admission. Not recommended for young children.

ALL: Student Body cards are now available for free! But, to receive free admission to school sporting events, discounts to dances, and other upcoming events, purchase an ASB sticker in the office.  $15 gets you into sporting events for free!  $10 for grades 5-8

Elementary

ALL: 8th graders are selling flower bulbs to raise money for their 8th grade trip. 12 Iris bulbs or 5 Lily bulbs for $5. Located in the office.

Elem/JH: Learn to Earn—Bank Day is every Wednesday before morning prayer.

High School
HS:  Cheer is selling donuts at break for a $1 each now through the end of football season.

ALL: the sophomore class is selling crusader license plates. $3 each or 2 for $5. You can buy them in the office or from any sophomore class officer.

Notices and Fundraisers

All fundraisers, publicity, posters, flyers, etc. must be pre-approved by the Dean of Students, Mr. White. Activity/Facility Use Forms are available in the office. Posters and fliers must be signed prior to hanging on school grounds.

Parents: the scrip “One Card” is now in stock in $50 and $100 amounts. They are good at many local and online stores. Check with the office for local script too. The school receives money back every time you buy with scrip.

Please turn in your Boxtops and Campbell Soup Labels. These programs earn money and supplies for St. Bernard’s. For a complete list of products you can log on to www.boxtops4education.com and www.labels4education.com. These can be turned into the office.

Attention Renner card holders, did you know you can pay your Renner bill in the HS office, and the school earns 2.5%? Just make your checks out to SBCS and turn it in at the office along with your bill stub. We send Renner a check minus our percentage and earn money for our school. Haven't got a Renner card? Applications are in the HS office. Thanks for your support. Please turn in the bills by the 19th of each month.

President's Scholars Program

About the Program

Under the leadership of President F. King Alexander, the President’s Scholars Program at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) continues to be the premier scholarship of its kind in the state. Recognized by the California Legislature, the program provides California high school seniors who are qualifying valedictorians from accredited high schools or National Scholars (National Merit Semifinalists/Finalists, National Achievement Program Semifinalists/ Finalists, and National Hispanic Recognition Scholars) an opportunity to compete for an exceptional package that includes:
  • Full payment of in-state tuition and general student fees
  • Highest priority registration
  • Paid housing in campus residence halls
  • Sponsored meal plan (for National scholars only)
  • Automatic acceptance to the University Honors Program
  • Personalized academic advising
  • Exclusive access to the President’s Scholars Center, including computer lab and study lounge
  • Opportunity for international study abroad programs
  • Special recognition at commencement with the President’s Scholar medallion

The four-year scholarship is renewable annually based on maintenance of satisfactory academic progress.

Application Process - Fall 2013

The CSULB President’s Scholars Program provides California high school seniors who are qualifying valedictorians from accredited high schools, or National Scholars (National Merit Semifinalists/Finalists, National Achievement Program Semifinalists/Finalists and National Hispanic Recognition Scholars) an opportunity to compete for an exceptional full scholarship package. In order to apply for the President’s Scholarship, high school seniors must first file a separate online CSULB admission application at www.csumentor.eduby Friday, November 30, 2012. The President’s Scholars Program application will be available online starting from Monday, October 1, 2012 through Wednesday, January 2, 2013 atwww.csulb.edu/presidents_scholars/student_application.Following the completion of the online application, applicants should review the confirmation page for the information on additional documents required to complete the President’s Scholarship application packet.

HS: Breast Cancer awareness day will be Oct. 23. Wear as much pink as possible!  There will be class and individual prizes and fun games at lunch. Please participate and show as much support as you can. Let's pink out SB!!

High School Girls interested in playing basketball please sign up in the office.  Meeting will be held Monday, Oct. 22, at lunch in the locker room.
